Microsoft's India Development Centre in Hyderabad is one of the oldest and most consequential technology GCCs in India, operating since 1990 and having played a foundational role in India's emergence as a global technology powerhouse. Today, with over 17,000 engineers, the Hyderabad campus is Microsoft's second-largest engineering hub globally after Redmond. Engineers here do not simply support or maintain products — they hold core engineering ownership over major Microsoft platforms including Azure services, Microsoft 365 applications, GitHub features, and the Copilot AI assistant.

Technologically, MSIDC is at the bleeding edge. Teams are building large language model infrastructure, fine-tuning foundation models for Copilot, and engineering the Azure AI platform services that serve millions of enterprise customers globally. The centre houses dedicated research labs and an AI Centre of Excellence where some of Microsoft's most impactful AI research originates. With over 1,200 patents filed from India, the Hyderabad team's intellectual contribution to Microsoft's product portfolio is substantial and growing.
